The changing seasons

It is only a few weeks since the last of the dahlias, so the solitary fuchsia is providing the only colour in an increasingly soggy back garden. Not to worry though, the camellias are starting out front. The idea of trying to grow a camellia hedge was to welcome guests with a bit of colour through the winter, and having a number of different varieties means that the flowering season can be stretched out. The first to open is the williamsii, St Ewe, with a splash of pink and yellow. The solstice has not even arrived yet, but it feels like the process of reawakening has already started. Roll on springtime.
